Bball Recruiting.

Romero Osby and Dee Bost signed their letters of intent as expected. Apparently I spoke to soon in regards to Scotty Hopson. Buckle up, because the following story is absolutely ridiculous. He had said that he was going to sign on Friday. Then just a few hours later Hopson said he would not sign on Friday after all, but may sign later on in the early signing period. He would just have to see how things went. Oooooooookay. What exactly happened in a matter of a few hours to make you suddenly change your mind? Odd to say the least, but it gets better. The next day, Thursday, this was reported from Kentucky New Era:

Although the 6-foot-7 guard/forward told several media outlets including the Kentucky New Era today that he was not going to sign with Mississippi State Friday, his mother, Jeanette Hopson, said early today that her son would sign with the Bulldogs Friday night.

We are signing Friday,” his mother said. “At first, we were going to wait, but then we decided to just go ahead and get it over with.”

Jeanette Hopson said that a final decision was made late Wednesday between other family members and Hopson had yet to be made aware of it.

He didn’t know because I haven’t told him yet,” she said.

All bolding is my own:
Inappropriate language upcoming, take this opportunity to look away if that offends you. Actually you should probably just skip this rest of this post. Dont say I didn't warn you. .....................WHAT THE FUCK. The final decision was made by his family, apparently with zero input from the guy WHO IS ACTUALLY GOING TO BE GOING TO THAT UNIVERSITY. In what screwed up world does that make sense? "He didn't know because I haven't told him yet". What the hell woman. This is his life, his future. He's the one going to college, NOT YOU. Don't you think maybe, just maybe, he should have some say in what direction he will be taking in his life? Apparently not in this family. Apparently in this family Scotty Hopson is the last person to know where he will be going to college. Unbelievable. Personally I'd give this lady a hearty fuck you, but that's just me. The fun doesn't end here though. Believe it or not there is more. Just a recap: he was going to sign, then he wasn't, now he is again but he doesn't know it yet. Caught up? Okay. Then, on Friday, Kentucky New Era had this printed:

"I will tell you that we are not signing and that we have no comment as far as anything else is concerned," Hopson's mother, Jeanette Hopson, said in a telephone interview late Friday afternoon. "It was a decision I made for my son - we just decided we wanted to wait."

It was a decision you made for your son? He isn't 5 years old. You aren't picking out his clothes for kindergarten. Good grief. By the way, what is all this we and I crap spewing out of your mouth. I didn't know you were being recruited Mrs. Hopson. Hows your jumpshot look? Sounds like the mother is an overbearing pain in the ass to me. If this is the crap MSU will have to deal with from this mentally unstable mother, then I would be just fine if Stansbury gave her the one finger salute and walked away from this whole mess. If Hopson comes, terrific. If not, terrific. I couldn't care less. This all sounds like more trouble than its worth to be completely honest. Let someone else have fun with it. I'm more than happy to have Romero Osby and Dee Bost join the team.
